Genetic and phylogenetic relationship of an American caprine rotavirus B strain with equine rotavirus B

چکیده
Rotaviruses (RVs) are significant enteric pathogens of humans and animals. In March 2021, the University Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL) received a fecal sample from 1-week-old goat kid with diarrhea farm 5 additional diarrheic kids. The was tested negative for Bovine coronavirus , rotavirus Group A, E. coli K99+, Cryptosporidium parvum Salmonella spp by multiplex real-time PCR assays. Interestingly, novel Equine Rotavirus B (ERVB) in identified neonatal foals also watery Spring 2021. Once ERVB-specific assay became available, found positive RVB. Genome sequence caprine RVB obtained using shotgun metagenomic sequencing Illumina MiSeq. All eleven viral segments were sequenced either completely or partially. Genetic phylogenetic analysis VP7, VP4, VP6, VP1–VP3, NSP1- NSP5 genes indicated strain had genotype constellation G3-P[3]-I3- R3-C3-M3-A4-N3-T3-E3-H3. addition, showed highest nucleotide identity evolutionary relationship to ERVB previously strains. Given similar geographical location equine strains our study, these findings suggest possible common source infection.

Isolation and characterization of an equine rotavirus.
A rotavirus, designated as the H-1 strain, was isolated from a diarrheic foal in primary African green monkey kidney cells and MA104 cells. This cell culture-adapted strain hemagglutinated erythrocytes of human group O, rhesus monkeys, guinea pigs, and sheep. It was found to be similar, if not identical, to porcine rotaviruses (strains OSU, EE, and A-580) by plaque reduction neutralization and ...

Four isolates of porcine rotavirus-like virus (PRVLV) infected MA104 cells and induced syncytium formation after low-speed centrifugation of the inoculum onto the monolayer. Ten of 44 (23%) Ohio swine sera had PRVLV antibodies when tested by indirect immunofluorescence, using PRVLV-infected MA104 cell monolayers as antigen.

Molecular characterization of equine rotavirus in Ireland.
Group A rotaviruses are important causative agents of severe, acute dehydrating diarrhea in foals. A total of 86 rotavirus-positive fecal samples, collected from diarrheic foals from 11 counties in three of the four provinces of Ireland, were obtained from the Irish Equine Centre in Kildare during a 7-year (1999 to 2005) passive surveillance study and were characterized molecularly to establish...
متن کاملIsolation and preliminary characterization of a caprine rotavirus.
Five cytopathic rotavirus strains were isolated in MA104 cells from stool specimens of kids with diarrhoea. Pre-treatment of the virus with trypsin and incorporation of low levels of trypsin in the maintenance medium were important for the successful cultivation of the strains in these cells. The isolates were shown to be group A rotaviruses by antigenic reactivity with a group A monoclonal ant...
